Park Lodge Stables in Newmarket is a family-run business that has generations of love and understanding of horseracing running through its veins. You and your horse will receive the kind of care and attention that’ll make you feel like part of the family too.
Park Lodge Stables has been established since the 19th century and is one of the oldest racing yards in Newmarket. It made a name for itself with renowned trainers Sir Jack Jarvis and Ron Sheather and continued to be a successful stables when James Eustace, Harry’s father, took over in 1989, a year after Harry was born.
Harry has now expanded into Highfield Stables.
For over 20 years Highfields Stables has played a pivotal role within the internationally renowned Godolphin racing operation. In recent times, Highfields has been occupied by Saeed bin Suroor as part of his wider Godolphin Stables.
The property once formed part of the wider Bedford Lodge Stables built for the fifth and sixth Dukes of Bedford. Notable previous occupants have included:- • Joseph Dawson who was an important innovative trainer, developing the training of two year old horses for racing. It was he who built the main range of stables. • Captain J. O. Machell who, in 1884 leased them to the notorious gentleman jockey and owner, George Alexander Baird. • After Baird’s death in 1893 they were sold to the Earl of Derby before being acquired by Godolphin in 1990. The Triple Crown winner Isinglass was trained from the Highfield Stables during his racing career dating from 1892 – 1895. More recently, Farhh was housed in the Ponderosa yard.
Harry grew up at Park Lodge, immersed in the excitement of a busy training stables. He went on to work at several prestigious establishments internationally, as well as with Royal Trainer to The Queen, William Haggas at Somerville Lodge Stables. He took over the family stables from his father in 2021.
